Prettau Implant Bridges

Dr. Alfred Josephsen is an exclusive provider of the Prettau all zirconia implant restoration. We work with a lab that specializes in milling permanent zirconia bridges, which have proven to be more successful than any other restorative method. There’s no question that zirconia is a preferable material for dental replacements.  Acrylic and plastic can stain, crack, chip, and even break.  Zirconia is the strongest dental material available and is tooth colored, so the result is functional as well as natural looking and will last many years.

Prettau implant bridges are the latest development in implant supported tooth replacements, and are so capable and durable they can be used in place of a full set of dentures.  Even if you don’t need a full set of replacement teeth, patients missing multiple teeth are the best candidates for this restoration.  The process begins like any tooth replacement when screws are implanted in the jaw bone and left to fuse with the bone over a course of months.  Once the implant is strong enough to handle the placement of a restoration, the Prettau implant bridge can be fitted over the implant just like a denture would.  The result is always a natural looking replacement you can wear home and wear for years!

Pediatric Patients

Josephsen Family Dentistry is proud to serve the families from our community, and we want them to know it’s just as important for children to have regular dental visits.  A child’s first dental visit should be scheduled when the first baby tooth appears, or around the child’s first birthday.  Baby teeth eventually come out, but their growth and development are important for the overall oral health of the child and the development of their adult teeth.

Baby teeth should be brushed and cared for like adult teeth, and it’s important to monitor their growth and development.  Missing any tooth for too long can change the development of surrounding teeth and compromise the structure of the jaw bone, but regular checkups can keep a child’s tooth development right on track.

Single Visit Crowns

Drs. Al and Greg Josephsen of Josephsen Family Dentistry use technology that delivers to give patients the best products available and the most pleasant dental visit possible.  CEREC is an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics.  As the full name implies, CEREC equipment is used to fabricate crowns in the office during a single dental appointment.

A crown fits over the top of a tooth like a little cap.  When a tooth experiences damage or decay, it can be rescued with a crown if the tooth hasn’t been harmed near the root.  In a tooth receiving a new crown, the decay will be removed and the remaining tooth reshaped, to ensure there will be a great fit for the crown. Using CEREC allows us to take a detailed digital image which we use to design the restoration in-house.  It only takes about 10 minutes for the CEREC machine to mill a ceramic crown restoration, and it can be applied in the mouth on the same visit.  With the aid of CEREC technology, a crown can be done in as little as 90 minutes. We’re all about patient convenience and are excited to be the first dental office in the West Essex area to offer single visit crowns with CEREC technology.
